Key Worker – Job Description

  • Main duty:

    The aim of this role is to prepare vulnerable young people to live independently and encourage them to become fully integrated members of their community. You will be required to work as part of a team to provide practical and emotional support.

    Support duties:

    • Be a contact point for Service Users & Clients.
    • Provide a lead support function including needs, risk assessments, record keeping and support planning with Service Users to ensure that they receive the appropriate level of support at all times.
    • Meeting Key Performance Indicators, targets and outcomes for Service Users.
    • Respond to complaints, incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour and following agreed recording practices & policies
    • Being responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering of group work and workshops.
    • Providing group & individual support when required by the service or Service Users.
    • Helping Service Users with preparations for moving in or out of their accommodations.
    • Ensuring that properties are ready for letting as well as being well maintained.
    • Preparing sign-up packs & handbooks for new Service Users.
    • Supporting Service Users in order for them to move in and maintain their homes, including domestic skills, rent & bill payments, furnishing and connection of utilities.
    • Assisting & Promoting Service Users to participate in employment, education, social activities.
    • Building & Maintaining good working relationships with Service Users, colleagues & family members of Service Users.
    • Encouraging Service Users to manage their finances effectively so they can sustain their tenancies & ensure that they receive the benefits that they are entitled to.
    • Submitting any Housing Benefit claims with the Service User Monitor & manage rent accounts.


    • Work to company policies and comply core requirements of the Supporting People Programme.
    • Maintain a good working knowledge of Health & Safety Procedures
    • Promote Service User involvement in the management of the service.
    • Maintain administration systems, including those for medications and others relevant the project.
