Brief description of employment opportunity

Your main duty as an Educare Staffing qualified nurse is to ensure all residents on your allocated floor receive their prescribed medications and all receive the tailored care stated in their individual care plans.

What you can expect in a day at our client’s establishment?

At the beginning of your shift you will attend a staff handover, this is where you receive a report on any issues the previous nurse has experienced on their shift and if there is anything you need to monitor. After this, you will be assigned a team of healthcare assistants to support you while you deliver care and medications. Each resident will have their own MAR chart and tailored care package, it is your responsibility to provide all care specified in their care plan and ensure all residents receive their medication. Every time you administer medication, you are required to document this in the MAR chart to ensure an audit trial should anything occur. There may be times when you come across issues on your shift, as a qualified person you are required to resolve them efficiently and always in a professional manner.

At the end of your shift you will be required to conduct a handover to the next nurse on duty, this handover should be detailed and fluent to ensure no problems occur.

Always bear in mind that help is constantly on hand, so you should never feel on your own and unsupported.

  1. Build rapport with the service users
  2. Show empathy and patience at all times
  3. Ensure medical and documentation expectations are met at all times
  4. Administering medications to residents
  5. Do everything possible to ensure a safe working environment
  6. Follow each individuals care plans and MAR charts
  7. Participate in staff meetings/handovers
  8. Provide personal care when needed
  9. Participate in moving and handling activities
  10. Attend shifts in a timely and punctual manner
  11. Show willingness to learn
  12. Work overtime if requested
  13. Ensure accurate records are maintained and updated if necessary.
  14. Complete paperwork as required i.e. admissions
  15. Liaise with external parties if needed i.e. Doctor/Community nurses
  16. Communicate with the families of residents.
