Yorkshire Support Worker Jobs Header

Brief description of employment opportunity

Your main duty as an Educare Staffing Support Worker is to promote independence; aid service users develop ‘life skills’ and support day to day activities whilst maintaining a safe working environment for all. At times you may be asked to work in other establishments.

What you can expect in a day at our client’s establishment?

At the beginning of your shift you will attend a staff handover, where you are partnered with an individual service user. At times you may also be partnered up with another support worker depending on the severity of the individual’s disability. Once assigned, you will begin your duties and support the service user throughout the duration of you shift. Sometimes your assigned individual may show aggressive behaviour, it is important to understand that the service users are living with learning disabilities and can be very challenging. It is essential to demonstrate an understanding and sympathetic approach when defusing situations. On some days, your assigned individual will be participating in activities such as going for a coffee, shopping or even sports, it would be your duty to ensure safety and to pursue this by encouraging and assisting with activities each individual is passionate about.
